My Personal Journey: Struggles, Insights, Inspiration

As someone who has worked in the health and wellness industry all my life, it is my passion and purpose to support others in improving their everyday lives so that they can be their best, most vibrant selves. Even though I worked in this industry for many years, I too faced struggles and challenges with my own health. A serious blood clot in my leg, a bout with PCOS, and consistent migraines were a few ailments that I experienced throughout my 20s and 30s. Beginning my 40s, I stepped away from a comfortable career of 15+ years and entered a nomadic lifestyle with a lot of uncertainty.

This drastically affected my mental and emotional state, and the repercussions of that eventually led to physical health concerns that I couldn’t ignore. To add, confronting perimenopause within this same timeframe and its intricacies was the ‘icing on the cake’. Reality had hit and I needed to heal myself because I had hit rock bottom. I also needed to get real with myself about what true health and wellness means because for years I was portraying a healthy woman but I in honesty, was kidding myself in numerous ways.

Therefore, out of self-love and with a dedication to learn, grow, and truly represent a healthy individual, I let go of previous habits and decisions that were not benefitting me, and I saturated myself with knowledge about hormonal health, functional nutrition, gut health, and somatic health modalities. My knowledge base had been primarily in exercise, sport, and basic nutrition, which was outdated, so I knew that expanding my awareness and understanding was key. Throughout this learning journey, I not only began to understand what was going on in my own body and how to heal, but I also felt this strong desire to share what I had learned because I was certain other women were experiencing a similar situation. With that, my purpose was ignited, and Pamela Joy Wellness was born.

Why I Created this Coaching Service

I want to be a holistic health coach & behaviour change specialist for the primary purpose and intention of facilitating and supporting change in perimenopausal women’s lives. I truly want all women to be ‘smiling from the inside out’ – to be radiant, vibrant, and resilient in their day to day, and to understand their bodies better by finding the right tools and practices to experience positive health in all areas.
